Power Blends! The Best Blender For Protein Shakes For A Healthier You!

Once in a while, the fitness bug just hits you. There are times when you just wake up one morning and just tell yourself that you need to do some physical activity. It could be as serious as getting a new membership on that swanky gym just across from where you work or it could be something as simple as starting a morning jogging routine.

And if you are like me, I always buy a big bag of protein shake for that no fuzz pre and post workout drink. It gives me an energy boost before I start my morning run and helps me have an amazing recovery drink afterward. But drinking protein shakes can be quite, well, boring. No matter what fancy flavor those labels say, like double chocolate fudge and vanilla ice cream they always taste like chocolate yuck or vanilla blech.

What I normally do in these situations is try to look for ways to add a little spice to my protein shake. For my pre-workout, I add some bananas and some strawberries along with my chocolate flavored protein shake. While I like a little bit of almond milk and mango when gulping down my post workout treat.

And this is where my trusty blender is such a life saver. Protein powders are usually chalky and quite clumpy so mixing them with a spoon is quite the kitchen nightmare. Plus, if you want to add those fruits and other ingredients, there is no other choice but to whip them all in a blender for that well blended and smoothie texture.

Today I would like to help you choose a great blender for your protein shake needs. These are things that I have researched in the past and would like to share what I have learned to you.

There are several machines that you can opt if you want to get that smooth and frozen concoction. Aside from the protein blenders, there is also the margarita maker. Sounds sassy, right? Well, it is a great machine to get, too. It can somehow complement your standard blenders.

But for the meantime, let us focus on protein shake blenders first. Since healthy lifestyle is becoming a trend, this particular device became an in-demand kitchen appliance. But regardless of the hype, it is still better to know which one of the protein shake blenders today can get the job done.

Must Haves For Protein Shake Blenders

Powerful motor

No question about it, the size of the motor is really important when you want to use your blender for protein shakes.

If you plan on just using it on milk/water and powder then a smaller motor will suffice, but if you are planning on blending your protein doing with fruits, vegetables, or ice then a strong watt blender is important.

Easy to clean

There is no other way to put it, protein shakes concoctions can get pretty messy. The powder can clog up in the blades. Since you normally mix a wide array of ingredients with the protein drink such as fruits, vegetables, and even nuts, then it would be wise to get one that is easy to clean.

Furthermore, the mixing of different types of ingredients can create some others to stick to your blender so it might be a good idea to get one that has parts that won’t easily have odor issues.

The 5 Best Blender For Protein Shakes Reviews

Best For Workout Couples: Ninja Mega Kitchen System

Image from Amazon.com

If you are one of those workout warriors that needs a buddy when working out, whether that is your wife, your brother, or your best friend, then do check out the Ninja Mega Kitchen System.

One big plus about this particular model is how it comes with two smoothie cups perfect for you and your workout partner. Or if you are like me, I already make two smoothies. One pre workout shake and another post workout drink that I place in the refrigerator.

The design of the product falls like every other Ninja kitchenware, sleek and modern with that nice looking stainless steel finish.

Quite honestly, putting this multi-use kitchen marvel as just a protein shake blender is utter nonsense. It also does quite a lot of other kitchen chores for you.

For example, this particular model has an 8- cup food processor bowl that can do your chopping and even dough making tasks for you. Not only does this mean machine make a good workout shake, you can also do a loaf of bread to go along with that.

The Ninja Mega Kitchen System has an incredible 2.0 horsepower motor meaning this generates a lot of motor crunch. Tasks like crushing ice, fruits, and vegetables will be quite a breeze when using this piece of machinery.

In one of the tests I saw, the Ninja Mega Kitchen System can whip ice cubes into snow in a matter of seconds. It can also turn vegetables and fruits into a thick puree.

The blender is quite big, so for those of you who has a big workout group you might want to really consider this particular model as the blender jar has a capacity 72 oz. or 9 cups.

One caveat I found when handling this product is the amount of noise that it makes. It definitely won’t win you any best neighbor awards if you live in an apartment with really thin walls.

Pros

  • Product has nice sleek and modern appeal.
  • Extremely powerful motor.
  • Inclusive of two smoothie cups.
  • Not that hard to clean; dishwasher safe parts are a plus.
  • It has a food processor function.

Cons

  • Extremely noisy.
  • Expensive.

Best for smoothies: Oster Versa Performance Blender

Image from Amazon.com

With the rise of information about the different kinds of superfoods, people have been trying to make a complete type of health shakes they can concoct. From blueberries to kale, to almonds, there has been an ongoing rush to create the best concoction when creating a super shake.

And it is definitely no secret that in order to create this you need a really good blender. One that could crush some nuts to powder but precise enough to turn fruits to juice without it being too pulpy.

This is where the Oster Versa Performance Blender really shines. While the bread and butter of this blender is its powerful 1400-watt motor. Its 6 pronged stainless steel blades that spins at over 250 MPH really takes the cake, it is specially designed to do all the things that were listed above.

All of that made me recommend this particular blender to one of my friends who wanted to make her own baby food. She wanted something a bit stylish but can get the job done right, and this machine definitely fits the bill.

She told me that it makes her spinach, squash, and pear baby food recipe in a matter of seconds. Plus it has a less gritty consistency than when she used to make it in her old blender.

The 3 program settings are definitely a plus, though this blender will not give you eye-popping features, it definitely has the basic controls and settings that you might consider as essential. It has a smoothie, soups, and dips mode that you can press in an instant.

One thing that I am not a big fan of is the 64-Ounce BPA-Free Tritan Plastic Jar, though it is a sturdy type of plastic and there are no leak issues (as long as you follow the maximum holding capacity of the jar).

I find plastic as a poor substitute for glass when the issue is about odor retention. I have thrown out a plastic blender or two just for this very reason. But mind you, if you always keep it clean after every use then I see no reason for any smell to permeate in this blender.

Another thing, this blender has a whopping 7-year limited warranty. Though I am sure limited means it is with reference to motor problems. But I guess that goes to show you how much confidence Oster has to its products.

The blender also makes some noise, though not as bad as some on this list. The base is sturdy when you blend though it does shake quite a bit.

Overall this is a solid blender that really makes great smoothies and purees.

Pros

  • Powerful 1400-watt motor.
  • Amazing 6 pronged stainless steel blades.
  • Perfect for smoothies and purees.
  • 7 year limited warranty.
  • Good looking design.

Cons

  • Very expensive.
  • Plastic blender jar.
  • Not that quiet.

Best Budget Protein Shakes Blender: Oster Blend-N-Go MyBlend Blender

Image from Amazon.com

There is a very good reason why I have this particular blender in my possession. Make that three: Price, speed, and convenience. I would highly recommend this to workout warriors who wants a personal, no fuzz blender, and totally easy to clean protein shake blenders.

If you are in the market for a personal blender that can easily whip up milk and protein powder, then do yourself a favor and buy one of these babies. It’s 250-watt motor is sufficient to blend your protein shake but will struggle if you place harder ingredients to it.

If you want to add other flavors, you might need a juicer as this model is not built for that. But I added softer ingredients like bananas and it does an okay job with it.

I don’t think I have to tell you that ice is a big no no. The motor heats up a bit when I tried this one. But if you really want ice blended drinks then you could add a little liquid and break the cubes step by step until you get the right consistency. Make sure that you start with smaller ice cubes as large chunks will spell trouble for the machine.

The manufacturer says there is a resettable fuse should the machine overheat; you just have to wait for a good 15 minutes. Fortunately, I never had to use this feature.

The cup is a dishwasher safe 20 oz. container. This is a big plus for me as I can easily whip up a shake, clean it, and just store it after. Pretty nifty for something that I just use to make shakes.

Overall this is a solid protein shake blender that does a good job with its intended purpose.

Pros

  • Extremely budget friendly.
  • Great for protein shakes that don’t require other ingredients.
  • Powerful enough for soft ingredients.
  • Easy to clean and store.
  • Easy grab and go design.
  • Perfect container for one serving.

Cons

  • Struggles with ice.
  • Struggles with other ingredients.

Best For Ice Crushing: Hamilton Beach Wave Crusher Multi-Function Blender

Image from Amazon.com

You might think that the Hamilton Beach Wave Crusher Blender might not be a good candidate for the best in ice crushing power on account of its 700 watts motor but it’s the way the blades of the blender is designed that makes it exceptional for the task.

This blender has Hamilton Beach’s patented ice saber blades are designed to specifically crush ice. The 700-watt motor, though not as power as some of the blenders here, gives it enough juice to crush even larger chunks of ice. Though it is still advisable to just use ice cubes for this product.

The blender jar is sizable enough at 40 oz., so serving for two to three workout buddies is one thing that this blender can whip up. Add the fact that it is made of glass makes this blender almost odor contamination free.

The Hamilton Beach Wave Crusher also has a nifty cord storage that makes this already sleek looking blender that much better for the eyes on your countertop.

This blender also has other modes that definitely takes away any guess work from you like mixing pureeing, dicing, and of course ice crushing.

Pros

  • Great at ice crushing.
  • Different blending modes.
  • Glass blender jar.
  • Affordable price.
  • Sleek design.

Cons

  • Quite noisy.

Best For Quiet Blending: Jamba Quiet Blend Blender

Image from Amazon.com

One annoying thing about blenders is how much noise they make. It does not help when you live in an apartment with very thin walls. Try blending at 4AM in the morning and you can wake all the dogs in your city who start howling and barking like mad. Some blenders definitely won’t win you any neighbor of the year awards.

Luckily, there is a blender out there that minimizes noise but at the same time delivers crushing power in the for of Jamba’s Quiet Blend Blender.

The concept is pretty simple; the blender can be enclosed with a lid that effectively minimizes the noise that comes out of it 1.6 HP motor.

But how does it stack against other blenders? Quite formidable actually. It pulverizes ice and other ingredients in seconds.

One caveat is that it does not have many features like settings and modes. It acts like a normal blender with speed settings and pulse mode.

It comes with a blend and go cup for those who want to use this as a health shake maker after tough workouts.

Quite commercial looking but still very sleek, the Jamba Quiet Blend Blender is a great addition for those who are concerned with noise and love working out when other people are asleep.

Pros

  • Really quiet when blending.
  • Stable build.
  • Comes with blend and go cup.

Cons

  • Lack of modes.
  • Quite expensive.
